Abstract
1390254 Removing mercury from gases; esp. hydrogen BADISCHE ANILIN-&-SODAFABRIK AG 13 July 1972 [14 July 1971] 32790/72 Heading C1A Mercury is removed from a mercury containing gas by treating the gas with an aqueous solution containing free chlorine wherein the gas is introduced into a layer or plurality of layers of the solution in a uniform and finely dispersed state and the solution is supplied immediately above the point of introduction of the gas and is distributed evenly over the layer or layers. Bubble cap plates, sieve plates or fitted glass plates may be used as the gas/ liquid dispersing and contacting device. The gas treated in the example is hydrogen from a chlor-alkali plant, treated with chlorinated brine.
