Abstract

1389449 Mixing apparatus BEKEN ENG Ltd 10 Aug 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 46897/71 Heading B1C A mixer for dough and other viscous materials has a pair of intermeshing helical mixing blades 3 and a discharge duct 6 the lower portion 9 of which is shaped to form a shoot, and a discharge control member in the form of an inclined plate 11 carried by sleeves 10 slidable on the shafts 2. The plate 11 is biassed to the closed position by adjustable weights 15 and cables 13 passing over pulleys 14, or by an adjustable spring. One or more cutting wires 20 or blades (22, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) split the material lengthwise and cut it into pieces. A powder or liquid lubricant may be introduced through the aperture 23 in plate 11. In a modification, Fig. 3, the discharge control plate (16) is pivoted and biassed by a weight (19) adjustable along a lever (18), and the lubricant is metered from a hopper (24) by an injection nozzle (25) and adjustable valve (26).
