Abstract
1389441 Thermal storage heaters J E RANDELL 17 April 1972 [19 Jan 1971] 2531/71 Heading F4U [Also in Division F1] A power plant includes a reaction vessel 20 in which volatile and a non-volatile components of a chemical substance are recombined in order to liberate heat. Inlets are provided for supplying low pressure vapour from an engine and liquid and high pressure vapour from a store to compartments 21. The reactive substance or substances are located in the compartments 21. Electrical heating elements 23 are located between the compartments. Around each compartment is a heating coil which may act as an evaporator. or as a superheater. Outlets are provided for drawing off the heated vapour at high pressure. Heat can be extracted from the reaction vessel and employed for various uses. If the plant is installed in a vehicle, heat produced could be used for heating the interior of the vehicle or heating domestic hot water or the central heating means of a house.
