Abstract

1388730 Retractable ball-point pens K C PEN CO Inc 9 Feb 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 6508/73 Heading B6P A retractable ball-point pen comprises a barrel in two relatively rotatable sections, a first tubular member 24 fixed in the upper barrel section for rotation therewith, a second tubular member 36-38 partially rested within the first tubular member and coupled to the lower barrel section 16 for rotation therewith, the first tubular member 24 being formed with an inclined cam surface 30, the second tubular member being formed with longitudinal slots as at 40, and a longitudinally displaceable cartridge 12 biased by a spring 22 towards retracted position and carrying a chuck 27 formed with a projection 50 which passes through a slot of the second tubular member and engages the cam surface 30. Relative rotation of the barrel sections displaces the cartridge by action of the cam 30 on the projection 50.
