Abstract

1388399 Dewatering sludges IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 55498/71 Heading C1C In a process for dewatering a sewage sludge the sludge is flocculated with a copolymer comprising 1-99% by weight of units of the formula where R=H or CH 3 , A=alkylene having 2 to 3 C atoms, X-=monovalent anion (e.g. chloride, bromide, methyl sulphate), the remaining units being derived from methacrylamide. The sludge may then be subjected to a step of compaction, vacuum or pressure filtration, flotation or centrifugation.
