Abstract

1388303 Electrostatic printing apparatus PITNEY-BOWES Inc 5 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 15758/72 Heading G2H In order to enable the operator of a photocopier to readily clear any sheet jams that may occur the machine is made in the form of an oblong box having the copying apparatus arranged around a U-shaped copy sheet feed path and having closable openings in the top, end and side walls giving direct access to the sheet feed, charging, imaging, development, drying and receiving stations. As shown in Fig.2 the orginal 24 is placed face down on a transparent bed 22 for imaging horizontally at imaging station 33 and a photo-sensitive copy roll 70 is fed through detectors and cutters to pass through charging station 32 in sheet form. An endless band, vacuum bed type conveyer moves the sheets downwardly to readily removable liquid developer station 54 and hot air is used to dry the printed sheets whilst they are passing on conveyer 188 to receiving station 62. As shown in Fig.1 doors 34, 36 and 60 allow ready access to those parts of the copier associated with the copy sheet feed path.
