Abstract

1387699 Railway vehicle undercarriages MASCHINENFABRIK SCHARF GmbH 25 April 1972 [4 June 1971] 19194/72 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] An undercarriage 4, at each end of a mine vehicle base frame 3, has a pair of support rollers for rolling on each flange of two rails 1 and a guide roller 6 extending transversely beneath each flange with limited vertical play between the rollers and the flange; a lifting piston-and-cylinder device 7, between each pair of support rollers, has a vertically guided piston-rod carrying a fluid released resiliently actuated brake shoe 8 above the respective flange, all the lifting devices being connected by an hydraulic control line to at least speed threshold, e.g. centrifugal tripping device 14, brake actuation causing the support rollers to lift clear from the rails. A single tripping device 14 may be used, or a device may be located on each vehicle. The vehicles may be used on an overhead conveyer, the shoes 8 still taking the weight of the vehicles during braking. The shoes 8 are of hard, granular material.
