Abstract

1387201 Moisture detectors J R REEVE 25 Jan 1973 [19 Feb 1972] 7807/72 Heading G1N A transducer for measuring the moisture content of e.g. grain in a silo, comprises a perforated metal cylinder 11 containing a moisture absorbent material, preferably ground grain, held between insulating end washers 12, 13 compressed round a central bolt 14 by a nut 18 and spring 15. The transducer is located inside the stored grain and the resistance between the housing 11 and the bolt 14 is measured in a bridge circuit to indicate the moisture content of the grain in the silo. A number of transducers may be provided at different levels and used to control drying fans. The cylindrical housing 11 may alternatively be two flat perforated discs held by clamps with the granular material between them.
