Abstract
1386816 Packaging cigarettes E H GELDMACHER 23 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29492/72 Heading B8C To prevent tobacco-crumb escaping from the ends of packaged cigarettes, the ends of the cigarettes are subjected to dry heating, e.g. for up to one second by microwaves so as to coagulate the protein in the tobacco. The cigarettes are individually packaged in pockets in a transparent or translucent plastics foil to which a further foil is sealed to close the package. Cushions of moistened foam material may be placed between the ends of the cigarettes and the pockets.
