Abstract
1386495 Furane resin coated glass fibres A C I TECHNICAL CENTRE PTY Ltd 26 June 1972 [29 June 1971] 29890/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division C1] Glass fibres used in reinforcing concrete, are coated with or embedded in a cured furane resin. The furane resin may be an unmodified, epoxy-modified, or aldehyde-modified polymer of furfuryl alcohol with furfuryl alcohol, furfuraldehyde or formaldehyde. In Examples: (1) fibres are drawn through a resin bath and cured. in a stream of hot air; (2) fibres are coated then wound onto a frame and oven cured; (3) fibre rovings are coated and looped over two spaced, parallel bars which are twisted so that when the resin is cured a spatulate ended reinforcing rod is produced; (4) uncoated rovings are looped as in (3) and coated in a cylindrical mould; (5) cut rovings are placed in a channel and covered with resin; (7) fibreglass mesh is impregnated with resin; and (8) fibres are drawn through a resin bath, then wound on a frame to produce an impregnated mesh when the resin is cured.
