Abstract

1386059 Master cylinders SOC ANON DBA 19 Oct 1973 [13 Nov 1972] 48790/73 Heading F2F A tandem master cylinder comprises a housing with a bore therewithin slidably receiving a single piston 16 defining two pressure chambers 22, 24 communicating with independent brake circuits, the piston 16 having an internal bore 46 in which slides a floating piston 48 capable of movement as a result of pressure imbalance between the chambers, the floating piston comprising a projection 52 extending from the piston 16 toward the closed of the bore and including two shoulders 56, 58 between which two washers 60, 62 are provided, resilient means in the form of a spring 64 being inserted between the washers and abutments 72, 74 connected to the housing co-operating with the washers so that when the floating piston moves a predetermined distance out of the idle position in either direction one of the washers closes an electrical circuit connected to an imbalance indicator whereas the other washer is kept abutting on an abutment.
