Abstract

138,561. Walter, M. Aug. 25, 1919. Differential or balance gearing for motorvehicles comprises pairs of intermeshing planetary worms such as c<1>, c<2> meshing also with worms g<1>, g<2> on the driven part-axles f', f<2>. One planetary worm of each pair has to be advanced with respect to its fellow, as shown in Fig. 1. Planetary worms c', c<3>, c' on one side of the gearing are supported upon three pins d<1>, d<3>, d<5>, which are locked or jointed together to absorb radial stresses. The worms c<2>, c<4>, c<6> on the other side are supported upon another ring of theise interlocked pins, these two rings being secured together by bolts e<1>, e<2>, e<3>, which are secured to a driving honsing, formed in halves b<1>, b<2>, Fig. 2. To prevent thrust between the worms g<1>, g<2>, a plate l interposed between them is secured to the housing by the bolt e<3>. Washers h<1>, h<2> are placed between the worms g<1>, g<2> and the housing.
