Abstract

1385161 Transducers STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 27 March 1973 14545/73 Heading H4J A rocking armature telephone instrument comprises an E-shaped core having a permanent magnet in its central limb and a voice coil around one of its outer limbs, an armature 5 spaced from the outer limbs by a non-magnetic and compliant material which defines the gap between the armature and the polepieces and determines the stiffness of the armature, and a diaphragm driving member 9 attached to an extension of the armature at the end thereof remote from the voice coil. Although the armature is shown with a central pivotal pip or bar, this may be dispensed with. A diaphragm 10 is attached to member 9 at the side remote from the armature. A frame 8 (and Fig. 4, not shown) serves to lock the components together. Mounting lugs are provided in side extensions of the core assembly.
