Abstract
1384796 3,4-Unsaturated nitriles BAYER AG 30 May 1972 [5 June 1971] 25267/72 Heading C2C 3,4-Unsaturated nitriles are produced from the reaction of hydrogen cyanide with 2,3- unsaturated monoalcohols or dialcohols having 2,3-unsaturation relative to a hydroxyl group, in the gas phase at a temperature of from 60‹ to 200‹ C., and in the presence of a catalyst comprising one or more copper salts on a supporting material. Exemplified is the production of allyl cyanide from allyl alcohol, methallyl cyanide from methyallyl alcohol, 1-cyano-2-butene from crotyl alcohol, and 1,4-dicyano-2-butene from 1,4-dihydroxy-2-butene.
