The apparatus 42 may be included in a beer dispensing system with a pump 12 delivering the beer via a beer meter to a button-controlled bar dispenser 26, 24. Air flowing via a line 46 is obdurated by the magnet from passage through holes 50 and thus pressure in line 54 rises. A fall in pressure in turn may control a bell, lamp or pump motor. A second embodiment includes a ping-pong ball float 58 Fig.3 operating a spool 60 via a push-rod 62. A magnet 38 in the spool coacts with magnet 40. In either case the chamber can be vented of excess gas by valve 56. Feed supply and discharge to the chamber may be via tangentally arranged pipes 32, 34 providing centrifugal separation of liquid and gas. In a modification the chamber may comprise a local enlargement of a flow passage with a guided float.
