Abstract

1383741 Per compound stabilization CIBAGEIGY AG 13 April 1972 [13 April 1971] 10654/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C5 and D1] A per compound is stabilized against degradation by a water soluble, e.g. alkali metal or ammonium salt of 1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol- N,N,N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP>-tetraacetic acid. The per compound may be hydrogen peroxide, an alkali metal peroxide or superoxide, a urea-hydrogen peroxide addition product, a per acid such as persulphonic, peroxy monophosphoric or peracetic acid or a water soluble, e.g. alkali metal, ammonium or organic amine salt thereof, or a perborate, persulphate, percarbonate, persilicate or perphosphate, the sodium salt of these being exemplified. As a further stabilizer, a compound of Formula I where n is a positive integer, or a silicate may be added. The stabilized per compound may be formulated as an aqueous bleaching solution of pH 7À2 to 12À5 containing 0À01-5% by wt. of per compound and 0À001%-5% by wt. of stabilizer. Alternatively, the composition may be formulated as a detergent powder which may contain a stoichiometric excess of the stabilizer and a bleach activator such as tetra-acetyl ethylene diamine as well as non-ionic or anionic surfactants, builders, fillers dirt, suspending agents, mild perfumes, enzymes and optical brighteners. The composition may be used for treating wool, cellulosic and polyamide materials, optionally in the presence of heavy metal (Cu<SP>2+</SP> or Fe<SP>3+</SP>) ions which are sequestered by the excess of stabilizer.
