Abstract
1382694 Stowing spinnakers C A PLUMMER 17 Sept 1973 [16 Sept 1972] 43391/72 Headings B7S and B7V A spinnaker stowage device includes a shoot 5 through which in use a spinnaker passes when being hauled down through a hole 2 in the foredeck of a boat, the surface of the shoot 5 being formed with a multiplicity of bosses, ridges or grooves 6 to minimize adhesion of the spinnaker particularly when wet to the surface of the shoot 5. The shoot is preferably of moulded plastics or glass-fibre reinforced plastics material or of sheet material with corrugations or indentations therein. Grooves in the shoot 5 may be of triangular, sinusoidal or trapezoidal cross-section, and the shoot provides a smooth transition from a vertical to a horizontal orientation tapering towards the lower end. A canvas stowage bag 3 adjoins the lower end of the shoot 5 and is releasably secured in a bulkhead 4 below deck of the boat.
