Abstract

1381222 Polyurethane foams BAYER AG 9 May 1973 [13 May 1972] 22023/73 Heading C3R Polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting together (a) a polyhydroxyl compound having a M.W. of 800 to 10,000, (b) a polyisocyanate, (c) a blowing agent and (d) a cross-linking agent having a M.W. below 500, which is an aliphatic compound containing at least one hydroxyl group and at least one group of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms and R is either a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched chain alkyl or alkenyl group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a group of the formula wherein x is 1 to 6, a group of the formula a group of the formula a group of the formula wherein x is 1, 2, 4 or 6, or a group of the formula the amount of (d) used being at least 3 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of component (a). Preferably the cross-linking agents are methylolether derivatives of the formula wherein R is as above and R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-12 alkyl. Components (a) to (c) are those which are conventionally used in the art.
