Abstract
1380302 Rolling mills ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH-EICH-DUDELANGE ARBED 11 Jan 1972 [11 Jan 1971] 1276/72 Heading B3M A girder 6 having asymmetrical parallel flanges, the ratio between the cross-sectional areas of which lie between 1À25 and 2À5, is made by hot rolling a girder blank, having flanges of which the ratio between the cross-sectional areas corresponds to that of the finished girder, in a universal mill 4 using an inner guide 7 on each side of the girder web at a maximum spacing of 3 mm. An ingot is first rolled to produce a girder blank with asymmetrical flanges (Fig. 1, not shown) which is subsequently rolled, after possible cutting and reheating, through a two high edging stand 3, a four roll universal stand 4 and a four roll universal finishing stand (5), (Fig 3, not shown). Each roll of the stand has an individual screwdown to provide for different rolling pressures on the two flanges. Lateral guides 8 movable by motors 9 to permit adjustment after each pass may also be provided. At least the lower guide 7 and the guides 8 are positioned with a maximum clearance of 3 mm. from the girder flanges. The guides 8 may be provided with rollers.
