Abstract

1379753 Knitting; flame proofing I W S NOMINEE CO Ltd 30 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30969/71 Headings D1K and D1P A flame resistant fabric comprises a knitted double jersey structure of which one face is predominantly composed of flame-resist treated wool fibres and the other layer is predominantly composed of asbestos or fibres. The wool fibre layer which may comprise up to 20% by weight of cotton, regenerated cellulose, polyamide or polyester fibres, may be rendered flame resistant by treatment with ammonium sulphate, boric acid-borax mixtures, monoammonium phosphate, stannic, titanium or zirconium oxide, a urea-phosphonic acid composition melamine-formaldehyde-phosphate derivatives, tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride or a condensate thereof with urea, titanium citrate, titanium tetrachloride and ammonium bifluoride, or a complexed zirconium compound, by pad-dry, spray-nip-dry or exhaustion techniques. The fabric may be used as upholstery fabric, curtain fabric or in the manufacture of garments.
