Abstract

1379455 Valves ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 25 Feb 1972 [27 Feb 1971] 8809/72 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] A valve controlling flow between port 15 and a work port 18 has a main valve member 3 housing a pilot ball 13 which, upon pressurization of port 15, engages seat 11 so that the pressure can unseat the main valve member against spring 5 to allow flow to port 18, e.g. to raise a load. Upon depressurization of port 15, the main valve member reseats and ball 13 engages seat 14 to prevent backflow via throttle 19 and passages 2, 10 to lower the load, ball 13 is unseated by tappet 17 to drain passages 2, 10 so that pressure in port 18 acting on annulus D-d unseats the main valve member, this control mode being available by making the clearance area P around ball 13 at least equal to the area of passage 19.
