1378843 Discharging from a nested stack of articles SEIKOSHA KK 16 March 1973 [21 March 1972] 12756/73 Headings B8C and B8S Product discharging apparatus, e.g. for products produced by press machines, or automatic lathes, comprises a first sanding means A for supporting a stack of receiving boxes 1 and for transferring the boxes successively from a first sending position 2a to a second sending position 2b, and a second sending means B for transferring boxes successively from the second sending position 2b to a product receiving position 2c and for transferring boxes successively from the product-receiving position 2c to a discharge position 2d. As shown, a plurality of empty receiving boxes 1 are stacked in a frame 2 supported on a table 8, the lowermost box 1 being releasable by an escape mechanism comprising a pair of rods 6, 6a which are journalled in brackets 5, 5a on opposite sides of the frame 2 and which each carry a pair of claws 3, 3 for engaging beneath a rim of a box 1. The rods 6, 6a are adapted to be rotated by an air cylinder 9 which acts through a linkage 7, 7a and 12, 12a. Actuation of the air cylinder 9 turns the rods 6, 6a which causes upper pawls 3a, Fig. 4, to release the lowermost box 1 in the frame 2 so that this box drops on to the table 8 in position 2b the lower pawls 3b of the claws engaging the rim 4 of the lowermost box but one to support it, and those above it. The box in position 2b is moved transversely, to the product-receiving position 2c, by a pair of pegs 14 on a lazy tongs, or bellows, mechanism 13 which is mounted on the table 8 and which is connected to a pneumatic cylinder 15 by a rod 17. The box in position 2c is provided with a lid 18 and is filled with articles which are counted and delivered by a shoot 19 which projects through an opening in the lid 18, the box being pushed on by the succeeding box, as the latter moves from position 2b to position 2c, to the discharge position 2d and on to a lift 22 mounted upon the ram 21 of a pneumatic cylinder 20. Actuation of the latter raises the filled box so that its rim 4 is pushed past pairs of spring-loaded pawls 25, 25 carried by bars 24, 24a the pawls 25, 25 snapping back behind the rim 4 to support the box in a second frame 2. The boxes may be moved from the latter manually, or mechanically, e.g. by a conveyer belt, not shown. An electrical control circuit, Fig. 6, not shown, is described for operating the apparatus.
