Abstract

1378472 Forming conveyer belts CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 12 Feb 1973 [14 Feb 1972] 6776/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division B3] Apparatus for manufacturing a vulcanized conveyer belt 14 having embedded reinforcing plies 4 of wire or cable form comprises two separate clamping devices consisting of synchronously driven friction rollers 1-3 and 11-13 serving to stress the reinforcing plies and the vulcanized belt respectively, and at least one friction roller having an associated pressing roller 7 adapted to press against the outer circumference of the plies and belt during passage over the friction rollers. Steel wires 4 are drawn from reels 5 in a reel frame II and pass around friction rollers 1-3 and enter a conveyer building-up device III where they are subjected to stress, lined with cover plates and passed through a vulcanizing press. The formed belt passes over rollers 11-13 and is wound onto a storage drum. Rollers 1-3, 11-13 are driven by common electric or hydraulic motor 6 via power lines 16. In order to contain the tensile forces between the feed and delivery friction rollers, pressing rollers 7 are used. The rollers 7 are displaceable through pressure cylinders 8 and are covered by a sheath of abrasionresistant rubber or plastics material.
