Abstract

1378219 Moulding tyres CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 29 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 14612/72 Heading B5A A pneumatic tyre is moulded in stages, in each of which a different part of the tyre is produced which may be of a different material, and for this purpose are used several sets of moulds 1, 2, Figs. 1-4, with an associated core 3 providing between them mould cavities of different shapes. The core is, after a moulding stage in one mould, Fig. 1, during which moulded bead strips 7 are retained by the core, placed in a second mould, Fig. 2, for the moulding of the side walls 8, after which the core with both moulded parts retained thereon are placed in the mould of Fig. 3, for the moulding of a belt strip 9 after which the core and moulded parts are placed in the mould of Fig. 4, for the moulding of a tread strip 10. In a modification, the first three stages are carried out using the same mould with differently shaped cores, after which the third core with the moulded parts attached is placed in a different mould for the moulding of the tyre tread.
