Abstract

1377776 Silicone lubricant coatings SOC DES USINES CHIMIJUES RHONE-POULENC 8 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 26838/72 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Metal surfaces or surfaces of oxides of the ruby, corundum or sapphire type are coated with a lubricant comprising a polar silicone fluid having its terminal methyl groups at least partially oxidised, the said fluid being applied either separately or in a non-polar silicone or mineral oil containing preferably 0.5-10% wt. of the said polar silicone. The lubricant may be diluted in a non-polar solvent such as difluorodichloromethane, benzene or petroleum ether. The particular polar silicone described is a dimethylpolysiloxane having a pH of less than 5.6.
