Abstract

1377108 Record-tape cartridges PIONEER ELECTRONIC CORP 25 Sept 1972 44247/72 Heading G5R A cartridge 15 contains a turntable 27 supporting an endless coil 20 of magnetic tape 11, a stepped pinch roller 28 having a portion 18 of smaller diameter engaging a loop of the tape 11 and a portion 30 of larger diameter for engagement with a tape-drive capstan 29 of a tape recorder, a pressure roller 19 for pressing the tape 11 against the smaller diameter portion 18 of the pinch roller 28, and a brake 22, 26 which in the idle condition, Fig. 3, of the cartridge is biased into engagement with the turntable 27 whereas the yielding movement of the pinch roller 28 on engagement with the capstan 29 is transmitted to the brake 22, 26 to withdraw it from the turntable 27. Fig. 4. As shown, a leaf spring 21 carrying the pressure roller 19 transmits the yielding movement of the pinch roller 28 to the brake 22, 26 which holds the pressure rolls 19 clear of the pinch roller 28 in the idle condition of the cartridge.
