Abstract

1376763 Welding by pressure; altering physical structures ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 29 Sept 1972 45069/72 Headings B3R and B3V A silencer enclosure for explosive bonding o<SP>r</SP> hardening comprises a hollow steel drum covered with soil and or concrete, an inlet tunnel through which material to be treated is conveyed into the drum and at least one silencer pipe, at least 1000 mm. long, connected to the drum interior. A cylindrical steel drum 1, Fig. 5, 6000 mm. in diameter, has reinforced welded on end plates 2, and steel pipes 8, 4500 mm. long, communicating with the interior of the drum are connected to the top of the drum. A semicylindrical steel tunnel 14, 1400 mm. high, is welded to the side of the drum and the whole assembly is embedded in the soil 16 with sand 15 tightly disposed around the drum and the tunnel. The drum is provided with sand internally at 4. A larger steel cylindrical drum 1, Fig. 6, 9600 mm. in diameter, has curved end plates 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, the semi-cylindrical tunnel 14 is welded to one end plate 2 and the silencer pipes 8 are 6000 mm. and 11,000 mm. long. A reinforced concrete layer 9 is provided about the assembly in turn covered with soil 16 and sand 4 is provided within the drum. Explosive bonding is carried out in both drums.
