Abstract
1376750 Dialkyl aluminium fluorides SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 23 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970 (2) 29 Dec 1970 (2)] 59949/71 Heading C2J [Also in Division C3] Dialkylaluminium fluorides are prepared by reaction of a trialkyl aluminium compound with a perfluoroalkyl aromatic compound at - 20‹ to 150‹ C., optionally in the presence of a solvent. In specific preparations, triethyl aluminium is reacted with benzotrifluoride or the 2-chloro-, 2- bromo-, 2,4-dichloro- or 3-trifluoromethylderivatives thereof, at 80‹ C. and the products separated by fractional distillation into a Et 3 Al/Et 2 AlF fraction, an Et 2 AlF fraction and an Et 2 AlF/EtAlF 2 solid residue. The compounds are useful in butadiene polymerization catalysts (see Division C3).
