Abstract

1376670 Speed changing LUXORINDUSTRI AB 26 Sept 1972 [27 Sept 1971] 44457/72 Heading G5R [Also in Division F2] A drive for a record-player turntable 3, providing two-speed ratios both in the same direction, comprises a friction wheel 14 arranged between and movable radially of the turntable selectively into engagement with either one of two concentric flanges 5, 6 on the turntable according to the direction of rotation of a driving electric motor 9, the wheel 14 being freely mounted on a shaft 15 carried in a bracket 16 which can pivot about an offset axis 17, the wheel 14 being also subject to brake drag as by engagement of felt-padded blade springs 24, carried by the wheel 14, with a part 18 secured to the shaft 15, such brake drag causing the bracket to swing about its piovt axis 17 in one or other direction in accordance with the direction of the torque applied to the friction wheel 14 by the motor 9. As shown the wheel 14 is fast with a pulley 13 driven through a belt 12 by the motor 9. Alternatively, the friction wheel 14 may be directly mounted on a pivoted motor. The take the brake drag torque the shaft 15 is stationed by a pawl 26 engaging a toothed wheel 20 meshing a smaller wheel 19 fast on the shaft 15, the pawl being released to free the shaft of drag torque by lowering the pick-up arm 2 to its idle support position. The traction pressure of the friction wheel 14 against the flange 5 or 6 increases with drive torque.
