Abstract
1376153 Fluid-pressure servosytems R BERINGER K STERL K GOGOL F LEUTENEGGER and W OLDANI [trading as BERINGER-HYDRAULIK R BERINGER & CO] 27 Oct 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 49976/71 Heading G3P [Also in Division F2] With each main control spool 2 in a bank in null position, pressure at supply port 16 acts on the left end of by-pass spool 5 to shift the latter rightwards to connect the supply port to exhaust port 15 and maintain the pressure in the supply passage to the spools at a low level determined by spring 4. Initial movement of any spool connects a work port 110 or 120 to inter-connected auxiliary passages 17 so that load pressure acts on the left end of pressure reducing spool 20 which shifts rightwards to disconnect chamber 34 from exhaust line 36 and connect the chamber instead to right-hand passage 17 to establish a control pressure in the chamber proportional to load pressure. The by-pass spool 5 thereby raises the pressure in the supply passage to a fixed level above load pressure. Subsequent further movement of the spool connects the work port in question to the supply passage, spool 5 continuing to maintain a constant differential between supply passage and work port pressures. Adjustable stops 29, 33 limit the movement of spool 20. Pilot valvemember 37 is unseated by excess pressure in chamber 34 to cause the by-pass spool 5 to operate in a pressure relief mode.
