Abstract
1376118 Moulding with crushed ice and snow; laminates INSTITUTET FOR INNOVATIONSTEKNIK AB 16 April 1973 18275/73 Headings B5A and B5N [Also in Division C1] Building elements are made by pressing a mixture of powdered hydraulic binding agent (cooled to below the melting point of water), and crushed ice and snow, and letting the compressed mixture harden and dry at a temperature above the melting point of water. Calcined or stucco gypsum, or Portland cement are used to produce wallboards. The melting ice or snow particles after pressing leave cavities for a porous element. Heated press surfaces melt surface ice during pressing to form a dense surface layer about a porous core, the thickness of the dense layer being determined by the pressure and time of application. Sound and thermal insulation board coated with adhesive (examples given), is attached to or sandwiched between the gypsum or cement boards during or after pressing. Wood fibre, glass-wool, slagwool, mineral-wool or cellular plastics insulation board is used. Additives to the binder/ice/snow mixture include glass, steel or plastics fibres, urea powder, accelerating and retarding agents, sand, expanded clay, bars, nets, and mixing is carried out in the presence of CO 2 snow, or liquid N 2 or air. Warm additives give dense surrounding areas on pressing.
