Abstract

1375983 Separating superposed sheets A B DICK CO 22 Nov 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 22941/74 Divided out of 1375981 Heading B8R In a rotary mimeographic duplicating machine a stencil film is thermographically imaged at 32 whilst in contact with the "original" and subsequently the sandwich is vacuum held on a rotating cylinder 35 whilst the outer layer, i.e. the imaged stencil film, is stripped for use on the mimeographic cylinder and the inner layer, i.e. the "original" is afterwards ejected into a tray. In the sandwich the lead edge of the stencil film is forward of the lead edge of the original. Means are provided for causing a pneumatic attractive force for holding the sandwich against the cylinder said holding force being arranged to act on portions of each sheet contiguous with the periphery of the cylinder. Valve means are also provided for the pneumatic medium for releasing said attractive force from the lead portion of the stencil and maintaining said attractive force on the "original" so that the imaged stencil is released for travel to the mimeographic cylinder whilst the "original" is held by the cylinder until it is stripped and discharged into a tray.
