Abstract

1375277 Removing the belly portion of a fish ARENCO-KM AB 1 Dec 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 55589/72 Heading A2U A fish processing machine comprises (a) a conveyor 8, Fig. 4, provided with means 9 for holding a decapitated fish with its belly facing said conveyor and its decapitated end downstream and (b) a blade 31 adapted to cut the upper portion from the belly portion by a cut 21, Fig. 1, which commences above the backbone 23 at the decapitated end and extends longitudinally above the back-bone until it descends obliquely, cutting the backbone at an acute angle and passing behind the abdominal cavity towards the anus. The required cut may be achieved with a rotating disc knife situated at the output end of the conveyor. The apparatus is particularly useful for recovering flesh from previously waste fish portions (Fig. 3, not shown) from which the head, the viscera and the major part of the flesh has already been removed.
