Abstract

1374684 Bearings SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO NV 20 July 1972 [21 July 1971] 34091/72 Heading F2A A bearing assembly comprises a housing having a cylindrical bore extending through a wall 4 thereof, a shaft 3 mounted in two axially spaced angular contact rolling bearings 5, 6 in the bore, the bearings being arranged to accommodate axial loads in either direction, and resilient means 11 pre-loading the bearings by acting between an abutment on the shaft and the inner race 7 of the bearing 6, which race is a sliding fit on the shaft. The inner race 7 of the bearing 5 is an interference fit on the shaft. The means 11 comprises a corrugated or diaphragm spring. The outer races 8 may be of sheet metal (as shown), or of wire, or they may be formed directly in the wall of the bore. The bore may be provided by a tubular member located in an aperture in the housing wall (Fig. 2, not shown).
