Abstract
1372965 Waste disposal incinerators C AGRIMONTI and M AGRIMONTI 26 Jan 1972 3776/72 Heading F4B A waste disposal incinerator comprises a rotatable cylindrical furnace 1 supported on rollers 2, a helical rib 7 on the inner wall of the furnace for aiding the travel of the waste from the inlet shoot 8 to an ash disposal passage 14, and a cylindrical heating chamber 13 enclosing the furnace 1 such that burners (32, Fig. 2) both externally heat the furnace 1 and complete the combustion of waste gases passing through the vents 11 in the furnace wall. The waste gases are passed through the chamber 13 in the opposite direction of travel to the waste in the furnace 1; into a nozzled outlet passage 19. Combustion air can enter the chamber 13 via a conduit 17. The wall 12 of the heating chamber 13 is surrounded by an inner jacket 21, and an outer jacket 22. Cooling air can be drawn into the annular space between jackets 21 and 22 through an orifice 30 by a fan 26; the air passing into the annular space between jackets 12 and 21, before finally escaping into an exhaust flue 28. The air passing along the flue 28 past the nozzle 20 induces a gas flow out through the exhaust pipe 19 to sustain a flow of combustion air through the chamber 13 and the inlet pipe 17. The gases leaving the flue 28 may be used to preheat the incoming waste (see Fig. 4, not shown).
