Abstract

1371541 Yielding mine roof supports HAYDEN-NILOS CONFLOW Ltd 7 Jan 1972 838/72 Heading E1E A yieldable stilt for a mine roof support such as a prop or arch member of H or I cross-section, comprises a U-section provided with a pair of integral inwardly directed ribs 4 formed by corrugations in the arms of the U-section, and a deformable depression 9 or deformable element extending centrally along the inside of the web 6 of the U-section over a major portion of its length, the upper-portion of the stilt forming a socket to receive an H or I section support, and the ribs 4 and web 6 forming a T-section guide for the support (not shown). The deformable element may be a tube which is flattened in the socket portion and bent over the top of the stilt (Figs. 9 to 11, not shown). A roller 11 may be interposed between the depression 9 and the support. For modifications involving the ends of the arms 5, the Specification should be referred to.
