Abstract
1371415 Packages TOYO SEIKAN KAISHA Ltd 10 Aug 1972 37436/72 Heading B8C [Also in Divisions A2 and B2] A heatable food package which withstands direct oven or fire temperatures, comprises a food product encased in a container composed of at least one metal sheet such as aluminium or steel with a protective coating of a heat resistant resin, selected from the group consisting of polyimide and polyimidazole resins, on the inner surface. In one form, Fig. 1, a moulded flanged container 1 for the food is made from metal foil of thickness 5 Á to 500 Á and coated on one or both surfaces with the protective resin. A lid 6 of similar material, or of a plastics laminate, is bonded to the flange by a heat-sealable resin layer 8. The sealed package is heat sterilized. Another form comprises a bag-like package, Fig. 4A, in which two flexible resin coated metal foil sheets 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are formed with a cavity 15 and sealed together at their peripheries with a thermosetting resin. A further embodiment comprises a can 26, Fig. 5, formed from a resin coated metal blank 23 with a resin-bonded side-lap seam 27. The can ends 28, 28<SP>1</SP> are secured with double-seams 29, 29<SP>1'</SP> The heat resistant resin may comprise one or a mixture of polyimide resins such as polyamideimides, polyester imides, polyamideimide esters, polyester amide-imides, polyimide imidazopyrrolones, polyimide imidazopyrroloneimides, polyester imide imidazopyrrolones, polybenzoxazole imides, polyimide oxadiazoles, polysulfone ether imides, polyimide benzooxazoleimides, organopolysiloxane imides, polyimidazole imides, polyoxazinone imides, polybenzthiazole imides, polybenzimidazole imidazopyrrolone imides, polybenzoxazinone imidazopyrrolone imides, polybenzdiazole imides, polybenzoxazole imidazopyrrolone imides, and polyamide ureas.
