Abstract
1369619 Radar ELECTRONIQUE MARCEL DASSAULT 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 60524/71 Heading H4D A missile control apparatus includes a single radar system for the control of the missile altitude and for the proximity fuse for the explosive charge. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) a sawtooth frequency modulator 10 provides the transmitted signal and reflected signals are heterodyned at mixer 20 to provide a signal whose frequency corresponds to the missile altitude (normally about 20 metres). A first control loop including frequency discriminator 30 and voltage dependent oscillator 31 provides a signal 34 indicating the altitude which is used to control the missile flight. Filter 24 in a second path selects the beat frequency signal 22 corresponding to low altitudes (e.g. 0-10 metres) which indicates the proximity of the target. Trigger 25 detects these signals and actuates the warhead. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), a variable slope sawtooth generator is used and a frequency discriminator connected to the output of mixer (20) varies the slope to provide a constant beat frequency. The discriminator output controls the missile flight and also determines the frequency of an oscillator (51) whose output is mixed with the constant beat frequency from mixer (20). A threshold detector operates the warhead as above.
