Abstract
1369364 Steam generation by pressurized water WAAGNER-BIRO AG 29 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40077/72 Heading F4A [Also in Division F1] The invention relates to a steam storage power plant comprising a plurality of steam accumulators capable of storing steam of different conditions and a plurality of turbines, each accumulator being connectable to a plurality of steam lines which in turn are connected to the turbines. The plant shown in Fig. 1 comprises three steam accumulators 6, 7, 8, three steam turbines 1, 2, 3 of the condensing type, and three steam lines 10, 20, 30 connected respectively to the turbines 1, 2, 3. Each accumulator is connectible through valve 18 to the line 10, through valve 28 to the line 20, and through valve 38 to the line 30. Superheating means 19, 29, 39 are disposed in the lines 10, 20, 30. The turbines discharge each to its own condenser 11, 21, 31, the cooling water circuit 4 of the condensers being common, passing first to the condenser 31. The superheaters 19, 29, 39 are supplied with steam from an accumulator 9 which is heated by means of a steam coil 23. In a second embodiment, Fig. (not shown), the turbines 2, 3 are again of the condensing type but the turbine (13) which is connected to the line 10, is of the back-pressure type. Steam supply to the turbine 13 is controlled by nozzles (15), (16), (17) and the steam discharged from the turbine passes through line 13 to the line 30 upstream of the superheater 39. The plant shown in Fig. 3 comprises a base-load steam turbine plant and a peak-load plant in accordance with the invention. The base-load plant comprises a steam generator 43 associated with a nuclear reactor 41, an HP turbine 45 and two LP turbines 48 which discharge to a condenser 53, the cooling water of which is cooled in a cooling tower 54. The peak-load plant comprises steam accumulators 6, 6, 7, 8, which are connectible through valves 18, 28, 38 to lines 10, 20, 30 which are connected to the turbines 1, 2, 3. Each turbine 1, 2, 3 is of the condensing type, only one condenser 11 being shown. The cooling water circuit of the condensers is connected in series with that of the condenser 53 of the baseload plant.
