Abstract

1369234 Framing elements for suspended ceilings GEORGE WHITEHOUSE (ENG) Ltd 28 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 11892/71 Heading E1W Framing members for a suspended ceiling are provided with deformable portions which allow thermal expansion of the members while permitting the integrity of the ceiling to be preserved. Spanning composite struts comprise elements 10 interconnected end to end by means of fish plates 32 are formed with slots 18 intermediate their ends into which steel brackets 64 of transverse struts engage, one from each side. The thickness of the flange 14 of the element 10 is clamped between bendable projections 68, 70 defined by an H-shaped aperture 66 in the bracket 64. The elements 10 accommodate linear expansion by permitting the end portions 30 to be bent downwards.
