1369213 Discharging hoppers J G WILLIAMS and P J GRIFFITHS 26 June 1972 [30 June 1971 27 Nov 1971] 30732/71 and 55148/71 Heading B8S [Also in Division G4] A device for dispensing discs, particularly coins, see Divisions G4-G6, comprises relatively rotatable plates 7, 11, the upper plate having a disc receiving hole and the lower plate a disc receiving recess 18 which receives a disc from the hole 14 during initial relative rotation of the plates, a projection 16 on the upper plate ejecting the disc from the recess on continued relative rotation of the plates. In the embodiment shown the lower plate has a surface 29 for supporting a disc in the hole 14 until it is in register with the recess 18, the projection 16 running in a groove 17 in the surface 29. The upper plate is provided with six holes 14 and six projections 16 (see Fig. 2, not shown) and is driven in rotation by an electric motor 13. The discs are dispensed through a slot 22 in a side wall of hopper 2. The plates may be horizontal rather than inclined and a vertical disc storage tube, with its end terminating above upper plate 11, used instead of hopper 2. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) forms of the lower plate are shown with modified shapes of recess 18 to reduce the tendency for discs to jam between the upper plate and walls of the recess. Counting means may be provided to count the discs ejected and to interrupt relative rotation of the plates when a required number of discs have been dispensed.
