Abstract

136,917. Wager, R. H. Dec. 31, 1918. Fire-bridges.-A firebridge adapted particularly for boiler furnaces which are required to be converted. readily from coal to oil burning, or vice versa, comprises a supporting- plate 2, Fig. 5, carrying a chair 3 on which are mounted bars 4 provided with air-admission openings 36, 36<a> and spacing-ribs 37, 38. The base-plate 8 of the chair 3 is provided with longitudinal air-admission openings 12 in which are mounted pivoted plates 41, when forced draught is employed, to restrict the openings. Ashes which accumulate on the plates 41 cause the plates to tilt and discharge the ashes. The bars 4 are secured in position by a locking-bar 32 which is secured in the chair 3 and engages with notches 30 in the bars 4. The supporting-plate 2 is secured to the furnace flue by adjustable arms 22 adapted to engage the corrugations in the flue, and bv a rearwardly projecting foot 23 or forwardly-extending feet.
