Abstract

1368547 Assembling fuel injection nozzles, joining by rolling SOC FFSA 7 March 1973 [3 May 1972] 11045/73 Headings B3A and B3M [Also in Division F1] A method of assembling a fuel injection nozzle 8 of an internal combustion engine on a fuel pipe comprises inserting a spindle 2 into the pipe forming at least one circular groove 4a, 4b, 4c in the external surface of an end 1 of the pipe, inserting the grooved pipe end in a bore of the nozzle 8 with a sleeve 5 of malleable material interposed therebetween and forming at least one groove 10a, 10b, 10c in the external surface of the nozzle coincident with the groove in the conduit. The grooves 4a, 4b, 4c are formed by a shaped roll 3 and the grooves 10a, 10b, 10c are formed by a corresponding roll (11), Fig. 4 (not shown). The sleeve 5, which is preferably of annealed copper or nylon, is inserted in the bore (7) of the nozzle by a press having a button (9), Fig. 2 (not shown), the button fitting into the end of the sleeve.
