Abstract
1366988 Pistons TELDIX GmbH 16 Feb 1972 [17 Feb 1971] 7193/72 Heading F2T A piston pump includes a plastics material piston 3 having a sealing lip 6 of slightly greater diameter than the cylinder bore 1, the piston being formed initially with a relatively large oversize, aged in a mould of essentially the same diameter as the cylinder, and then cooled outside the mould. The piston 3 may reciprocate at 6000 cycles/minute typically with a stroke of 2 mm. and a diameter of 8 mm., generating a pressure of about 200 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>, and may be of polytetrafluoroethylene, possible glass fibre-reinforced, with a metal cap 11 screwed to a stud 10 for guidance. The piston 3 may be formed by moulding with an initial lip diameter oversize of 0À3 mm., followed by heating for an hour at 130‹ C. while pressed into a cylinder mould having the same diameter as the intended cylinder bore 1, resulting in a final oversize of 0À1 mm.
