Abstract

136,653. Machin, W. Dec. 20, 1918. Extrusion machines.-Comprises improvements in extrusion machines for producing nibbed roofing tiles, of the type in which the die a<2> is formed with a nib-forming recess a<4> adapted to be covered at intervals bv a blade or plate U carried by a lever B pivoted to the die-plate A<1>. The blade C is covered with fustian &c. to prevent damage to the clay, and to indicate the length of the nib, the lever B has adjustably secured to it at e<1> a bent member E having a pointer or knife edge adapted to scratch or mark the clay when the lever is lowered. The lever B is held in any position between a pair of spring plates carried by bolts d, d<1>, and its upward movement is limited by a stop A<3>. The extruded material is carried away by a roller conveyer, the rollers F, Fig. 4, of which are reduced at f to prevent damage to the nibs.
