Abstract

1366359 Packaging elements for packaging articles MEDICOR MUVEK 2 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41076/71 Heading B8C A packaging element, particularly for protecting packaged articles such as sensitive instruments &c., has two wall portions having surfaces at an angle to one another for engaging corresponding surfaces of an article to be protected, each wall-portion being of self-supporting, double-walled, construction and the space defined within the double-wall of each wall portion including vibration-damping means extending from wall-to-wall of the double wall and having a different response to vibration to that of the double wall such as to act to dampen the transmission of vibrations by the wall portion in which said means is included. As shown, a damper element for receiving a corner of an article to be packaged has three hollow-wallportions a, b, and c mutually at right angles to one another. Vibration-damping inserts g, having the desired resonance frequencies, can be fitted into each hollow wall-portion or, the latter can be filled with gas, or liquid. The outer edges of the elements can be shaped to correspond with the inner surface of the packaging container and grooves d can be provided in the inner walls along the lines of intersection to enhance the flexibility of the element.
