Abstract
1365603 Substituted diaryl compounds BAYER AG 13 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 17043/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula in which Ar<SP>2</SP> represents a substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical which is substituted at least once in the ortho- or para-position by an electron acceptor radical, a 2-anthraquinonyl, 3-fluorenonyl or 2-benzothiazolyl radical and Ar<SP>3</SP> represents a phenyl or naphthyl radical, which may be substituted, in which the amino group is in the ortho- or peri-position and the hydroxyl group is in the ortho- or para-position or in the case of a 2-amino-1-napthyl radical, in the 5- or 7-position and in the case of a 1-aminonaphthyl radical in the 6-position. Such compounds are prepared by reacting sulphonamides of the formula HO-Ar<SP>1</SP>-NH-SO 2 -Ar<SP>2</SP> in which Ar<SP>1</SP> represents a phenyl or naphthyl radical, which may be substituted, in which the hydroxyl group is in the meta-position or, in the case of 1-naphthyl radical, in the 5-, 6- or 7- position and in the case of a 2-naphthyl radical in the 4-, 5- or 7-position and Ar<SP>2</SP> is as defined above. 4 - Nitrobenzene - sulpho - 3<SP>1</SP> - hydroxyanilide is prepared by reacting 3-aminophenol with 4-nitrobenzene sulphochloride.
