Abstract

1364978 Casting moulds GEORGE WADE & SON Ltd and F HENSHALL 31 Jan 1973 [9 Feb 1972] 6131/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division B5] A metal-casting mould is made by providing a ceramic pouring device consisting of a cup part 11 and at least one sprue 12 having a plurality of spaced ingate apertures 13 and either: (a) affixing to the pouring device at the ingate apertures 13, lost patterns 14, forming a mould around the patterns 14 and the pouring device and removing the patterns 14; or (b) providing lost patterns, forming individual moulds around the patterns, removing the patterns from the individual moulds and affixing individual moulds to the pouring device at the ingate appertures 13. The mould or moulds may be made by a slurry dipping and refractory powder stuccoing technique or by immersion of the patterns into a slurry which is gelled to form a mould block. The patterns may be wax polystyrene or polypropylene. A cover 16/handle 15 may be fixed to the pouring device during mould formation.
