1364940 Frequency modulation transmission system PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 13 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 11972/73 Heading G4H In a system for transmitting as frequency modulation discrete instantaneous values of an information signal and demodulating the modulated signal at a receiver by a counter which counts pulses derived from the transmission for the period between regular pulses which reset the counter, the counter reading at the end of the period being the desired value, there is arranged before the frequency modulator a transmission network with substantially frequency independent time delay up to the highest frequency of the information signal and an amplitude characteristic A b (f) given by where A 0 is the attenuation for f=O and T 0 is the time spacing of the reset pulses and is less than the period of the highest frequency of the information signal. The information signal may be converted to an electrical signal by a transducer with the desired characteristic or the electrical transducer output may be modified by an electrical network which is preferably four terminal and may incorporate an amplifier.
