1364667 Rinsing agents for dish-washers HENKEL & CIE GmbH 15 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970 (2)] 58149/71 Heading C3R [Also in Division C5] Rinsing agents for machine dish-washing contain an alkylene oxide adduct of an aliphatic diol which contains a C 10-20 linear hydrocarbon chain and in which the two hydroxyl groups are on adjacent non-terminal carbon atoms. In one aspect (A) the composition comprises (a) a surface active adduct of 3-30 mols. of ethylene oxide and an aliphatic diol as defined above and (b) a foam-inhibiting alkylene oxide adduct of an alkanol, an alkylphenol or an alkane diol in which one hydroxy group is terminal or the hydroxy groups are on non-adjacent carbon atoms, or a formaldehyde acetal of such an adduct. In another aspect (B) the composition comprises (a) a surface active adduct of 5-20 mols. of ethyleneoxide, 1-10 mols. of propylene oxide and an aliphatic diol as defined above and (b) water. Type (A) compositions may also indude aqueous alcohol, e.g. ethanol, and a C 2-6 carboxylic acid, e.g. citric acid. Type B compositions may also include an organic solvent, e.g. ethanol, a C 2-6 carboxylic acid, e.g. citric acid and a defoaming agent as defined above. The foam-inhibitor may be an ethylene oxide adduct, optionally together with propylene oxide or butylene oxide, of coconut fatty alcohol, an unsaturated fatty alcohol, a secondary fatty alcohol or nonyl phenol.
